DreamYard Gala 2017

Tonight, we attending DreamYard's Annual Benefit Gala at Capitale in Chinatown. DreamYard collaborates with Bronx youth, families and schools to build pathways to equity and opportunity through the arts. Founded in 1994, DreamYard is now the largest arts and social justice education organization in the Bronx. Isn't that something?

The student performances were spectacular and very moving. Especially the poetry. The visual art students shared work for a silent auction which made the cocktail hour so much better. I left wanting to contribute and share the magic of photography. I am currently researching and getting involved and you should too. If you cannot donate, DreamYard works with companies through strategic partnerships, corporate grants, workplace giving and employee engagement. So if you have a business , you can create an internship program and therefore an opportunity for these kids. This is not an ad and this is not for a friend. This was one of the best organizations I have come across this year.

After the Gala, we popped into Sohotel and the vibes were on 100. The drinks were delicious, the service fast and the music good. For the great night, I wore this beautiful and silky TiBi dress who's pattern was like a blue parsley print bandana. Because I ultimately am from NYC and specifically the Bronx, I couldn't help but pray and hope I didn't run into some gang issues as the color (not a big deal) and the print (big deal) represent "Crips". It may seem a little ridiculous but when you grow up in NYC and see things, no caution is ever too ridiculous.
