Meme Monday: What You See Is Not What You Get

I had a few thoughts come to mind when I first saw this illustration:

1. I think it was when I first realized that I was what people defined as “beautiful” that I learned and relearned that how we look and feel on the outside is not always what is on the inside. What we say is not always what we mean. What we preach is not always what we practice.

2. Being socially awkward is just like this: You appear friendly and beautiful but on the inside, for reasons only you feel and know, you become anti-social and bothered. Maybe you want to even leave the function when all you have to do is adjust your socks, or better yet, YOLO, take your socks off and enjoy life!

3. My last thought is the discomfort we ALLOW ourselves to feel by not doing something about any distress we feel as soon as we feel it. We also allow ourselves discomfort by not preparing in advance. In this case, by not wearing longer socks when we know ankle socks will slide down with our favorite pair of shows.

There is so much more to say, so we’ll leave it here for now.
