ISABELA RANGEL GRUTMAN’S FIRST FASHION SHOW, “LE SUD”

“Le Sud” was designed and curated by Isabela Rangel Grutman with Le Sirene Swim x Arezzo and styled by Kelly Brown. Official launch on October 21st at Casadonna in Miami. Photos from WRE.

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of attending “Le Sud”, a ready-to-wear and swimwear collaborative collection curated and designed by Rangel’s Isabela Rangel Grutman, who, for the pieces, drew inspiration from the paradisal lifestyle and essence of Southern France. The short takeaway is that it was a fabulous event and a classic example of what women supporting women in the fashion industry looks like.

Here is a rundown.

“Le Sud” premiered at Miami’s newest and hottest Casadonna, an Italian eatery that Groot Hospitality and Tao Group Hospitality thought up. This open-air restaurant resembles an Italian villa. It has a visible open sky and views of glittering waters, boats, and trees. The day was gorgeous, and the whole thing gave Côte d’Azur vibes. The location helped create the perfect environment for “Le Sud,” which, in its fabrics and looks, firmly focused on the easygoing and tranquil energy of the French Riviera.

Victoria Beckham, Winnie Harlow, Alix Earle, and Melissa Wood-Tepperberg were among some of the attendees, and we were welcomed with signature Casadonna cocktails, margaritas, and chilled rosé while the DJ played a mix of funk, new-age jazz, and bossa nova. After a few minutes of mingling, guests took their seats, and the excitement and anticipation grew. Suddenly, everything went quiet, the show music started, and the first model walked out. I could tell that this moment entirely transported the audience from Miami to the South of France. The DJ began playing music that sounded like it came straight out of France, too. The palm trees were swaying, and the Aperol spritzs were flowing.

Models donned big hats, flowers, stockings, halter dresses with patterns of old villas and mountains in watercolor, headscarves, 3-piece swimsuits, blazers, tailored separates, you name it! The color palette included olive greens, blush pinks, beiges, dark blues, and even blacks. It was like a Fall collection witnessed in the Summer.

Because of that, this wasn’t like any other swimwear show in Miami. It wasn’t just swimsuits, sheer cover-ups, and heels. This collection was different; it was elegant, innovative, and embodied the hottest fashion trend: quiet luxury. The color palette was warm, the looks effortlessly went from day to night, and the headscarves were a sweet surprise.

Another element that elevates the collection is that all of the pieces are sustainable, made with recycled nylon, and handcrafted by a team of women in Brazil.

“Le Sud” came to life in collaboration with Brazilian beachwear and resortwear brand La Sirène Swim and the 50-year-old Brazilian shoe brand Arezzo, who provided all the chic shoes for the show. To bring all of the 30 looks together, Grutman tapped Miami-based Canadian fashion stylist Kelly Brown, whose experience comes mostly from her styling work in New York City and Los Angeles.

This was Grutman’s first fashion show as a designer since starting her ready-to-wear fashion line, Rangel, in 2021, and I know this will not be her last. I witnessed Grutman’s passion, grit, and dedication through this collection. She is a true team player who values collaboration and thinks of other women when creating, whether she is creating art or business.

My favorite thing about the show was that not only did it create an experience that made us feel like we were sitting by the water somewhere in Saint-Tropez people watching and enjoying the sun and the water, but I also got to witness what women supporting women looks like in the fashion space in Miami. From the collaboration between the three brands (Rangel x Le Sirene Swim x Arezzo) to the attendees and the staff -- being around this many stylish, creative, and strong women would be inspiring to anyone!

I can’t wait to order some of the “Le Sud” pieces for myself, starting with the flowy halter dress and the black and blue 2-piece swimsuit, which I’ll be wearing to my upcoming trip to Belize. You can get them at shoprangel.com and bikinilasirene.com
